Ken's Expertise

Ken serves as Co-Chief Investment Officer of domestic equities. In this role, he oversees portfolio management and investment strategy across the firm’s domestic equity platform. He is Portfolio Manager for Ariel Fund and Co-Portfolio Manager for our small cap value, small cap value concentrated, small/mid cap value and mid cap value strategies, including Ariel Appreciation Fund. In addition to his portfolio management responsibilities, Ken covers consumer products and services and industrials. He joined Ariel in 2004 as a research analyst after more than two years with William Blair & Company, where he most recently served as a senior investment banking analyst. Earlier in his career, Ken worked as a senior auditor at KPMG, LLP. Beyond Ariel, he serves on the board of trustees of the Shedd Aquarium where he is a member of the finance and audit and animal care and conservation committees. Ken is also on the advisory board of After School Matters where he chairs the investment committee and serves on the finance committee. He earned a BS in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Ken is also a Certified Public Accountant.
