Mareilé advises Ariel’s senior leadership, mutual fund board of trustees and company board of directors on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters regarding the investment adviser, investment company, broker-dealers, securities compliance, corporate and fund governance, and SEC and FINRA examinations. She serves as board secretary to the investment adviser, broker-dealer, Ariel Alternatives and Ariel Investment Trust. She is also the anti-money laundering officer for all four entities and chief privacy officer for Ariel Investments and Ariel Alternatives. Mareilé joined Ariel in 2007, bringing more than two decades of legal experience to the firm.
Prior to Ariel, she worked at the Chicago Stock Exchange, where she held the positions of associate general counsel and chief enforcement counsel. Previously, she was the chief legal counsel for the Illinois Gaming Board and served as an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission and two Chicago-based law firms.
Outside of Ariel, Mareilé serves on the boards of The Lincoln Park Zoo, The Chicago Police Board and The Smart Museum. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in European history and economics from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her JD degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
