Martin C. Gawne

Vice President, External Communications
Martin is responsible for managing public and media relations for Ariel’s domestic and global investment teams and executive leadership. In this capacity, he creates awareness for Ariel’s deep investment expertise and capabilities. He also supports internal and external marketing communications and brand initiatives. He joined Ariel with more than three decades of experience in the asset management industry. His prior experience includes senior positions with Adams Street Partners, Aviva Investors Americas, and William Blair & Company, where he was the first Marketing Director for the William Blair Funds. Martin started his career as a financial reporter for Knight-Ridder Financial News and is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BS in Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.
Adam Hodge

Adam Hodge

Senior Vice President, External Affairs
Adam joined Ariel in 2019 and is responsible for the firm’s external affairs. Specifically, he manages public and government relations as well as community affairs. In collaboration with our marketing and investor relations teams, he oversees media initiatives and supports global brand awareness. Adam came to Ariel from SKDKnickerbocker, a public affairs firm based in Washington, where he provided strategic counsel to a range of corporate and non-profit clients. Previously, he was the communications director at the Democratic National Committee and served as deputy assistant secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department where he led strategic communications efforts for several domestic finance issues. Earlier in his career, Adam served as the press secretary for House Majority Whip James Clyburn and in the office of former Senator Chris Dodd. Adam graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Government with a concentration in International Relations.
Roopa Weber

Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer
As chief marketing officer of Ariel, Roopa spearheads the firm’s marketing and brand strategy, overseeing and executing its creative vision through integrated marketing efforts and targeted campaigns. Her primary focus is to contribute to the firm’s overall growth and to build global brand awareness. With over two decades at Ariel, Roopa most recently served as the head of institutional client services. Prior to joining Ariel in 1997, she worked for a Chicago-based fundraising consulting firm and at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Roopa is a board member of Strides for Peace, which works to eliminate gun violence from Chicago’s neighborhoods. She also serves on the advisory board of the Gene Siskel Film Center and is a member of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Fashion Council and its Executive Committee. In 2012, she was named a fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago and currently serves on their LFA Board. Roopa attended Lake Forest College, where she graduated with a BA with honors in her double major of French and psychology.
