Bonnie is responsible for institutional business development and client services with a special focus on investment consultants and financial intermediaries. She joined Ariel in 2016 after spending eighteen years with AllianceBernstein L.P., most recently as senior vice president and head of North America consultant relations. In this capacity, Bonnie cultivated relationships with key global consulting firms. Prior to that, she held various roles including global business development, vice president of public fund marketing, and client service. Beyond Ariel, Bonnie is vice chair of the investment committee and serves on the finance council of The New York Junior League. Bonnie graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in international relations. She is also a CAIA Charter Holder.

Gary L. Rozier

Gary joined the firm in 2006 and is responsible for institutional business development and client services with a special focus on registered investment advisors. Prior to joining Ariel, Gary spent more than five years with Rydex Investments. At Rydex, he held multiple positions in shareholder services and financial advisor sales before being promoted to regional vice president where he oversaw product development and distribution across nine states in the Midwest Region. Gary is president of the board of directors for Chicago Run, a trustee for the Francis Xavier Warde School, and serves on the Investment Committee of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. Additionally, he is former chairman of the board of trustees for Chicago State University and is a 2011 Leadership Greater Chicago fellow. Gary earned a BA in Economics from the University of Maryland, where he served as captain of the rugby team.
Ian M. Webber

Ian joined Ariel Investments in 2015 and is responsible for institutional business development and client services for the Asia Pacific region. He has more than 15 years of experience in the funds management industry, having worked at firms such as J.P. Morgan Investment Management and Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup Asset Management. Most recently, he was country head and director of sales, Asia Pacific for Artio Global Investors (formerly Julius Baer Asset Management in the United States). Prior to that, he was country head and head of sales and marketing, Australia and New Zealand for AXA Rosenberg Investment Management. Ian spent the first 10 years of his career as a financial market economist at Westpac Banking Corporation, and as an economist and asset consultant for Ipac Securities. He earned a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Newcastle, where he majored in economics and econometrics, and he has a postgraduate diploma in applied finance and investments from the Securities Institute of Australia.
Roopa Weber

Roopa serves as head of Ariel’s institutional client services team, which handles all aspects of client communications, reporting and onboarding, as well as board reports and marketing materials. In addition to serving as a client liaison for our institutional portfolios, Roopa works closely with our portfolio managers on client relationships. Prior to joining Ariel in 1997, she worked for a Chicago-based fundraising consulting firm and at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Roopa is a board member of Strides for Peace, which works to eliminate gun violence from Chicago’s neighborhoods. She also serves on the advisory boards of the Gene Siskel Film Center and River North Chicago Dance Company, and is a member of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Fashion Committee. In 2012, she was named a fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago. Roopa attended Lake Forest College, where she graduated with honors with a BA in French and psychology.
Melissa J. Hill

Melissa oversees the workflow and completion of all Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), consultant databases, and quarterly reporting. She also liaises with the investment team and marketing department to review portfolio positioning and investment results. In addition, Melissa is responsible for consultant communications and related requests. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, she worked as an investor relations representative at a publicly traded REIT. Melissa graduated cum laude with a BS in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Malik T. Murray

Malik joined Ariel in 2004 and focuses on institutional business development and client services. Previously, he spent eight years with Bank One Brokerage, most recently serving as the lead broker on the European shift for its international exchange-traded products group. Outside of Ariel, Malik serves on the school boards of the Ariel Community Academy and the St. Philip Neri School. He is also a director for the Chicago Minority Business Development Council and a member of the National Association of Securities Professionals. Malik earned a BA in finance from DePaul University and an MBA from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
Patrice Bailey

Patrice L. Scelzo

Patrice plays an integral role on our institutional client service team. Her primary responsibilities include overseeing reporting and presentation materials as well as responding to day-to-day client and third party requests. Prior to joining the firm in 1999, she worked as a quality service assistant for Northwest Airlines. Patrice is an associate board member of Gilda's Club Chicago and earned a BA in international business-Spanish intensive from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Melissa Smith

Melissa is responsible for cultivating and managing Ariel’s consultant relationships. Prior to joining the firm, Melissa was vice president of consultant relations for Deutsche Bank. In this capacity, she managed business development and client services for investment consultants. Previously, she was associate director of consultant relations for Calamos Investments. Beyond Ariel, Melissa is a member of several professional organizations including the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives, Women Investment Professionals, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds. Melissa earned her BA in finance from Illinois State University.

Todd Trubey, PhD*

Todd joined Ariel in 2007 and is responsible for the firm’s peer analysis and competitive research, as well as overseeing our Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Furthermore, he works closely with senior management and our investment team on white papers and portfolio commentary. Todd came to Ariel after spending seven years at Morningstar, Inc., a leading source of independent investment research. Most recently, he served as a senior mutual fund analyst specializing in small cap, long-short and Buffett-style funds. Additionally, he spent two years as an editor in the insurance department for Dearborn Financial Publishing, focusing on variable insurance products. Todd graduated summa cum laude with a BA in English from the University of the South. He also holds an MA and PhD in English from Northwestern University.
